Nov. 4, 1921

The Texas-Iowa Oil syndicate reported that drilling was expected to start in the next week at the Laney Well near Duffau.

W.W. Murrel reportedly traded his 100-acre farm a mile and a half from Dublin to M.M. Dixon for his sevenbungalow house within the city limits. Dixon provided $1,000 in addition to the home.

75 Years Ago

Nov. 1, 1946

Ed Sikes moved to Dublin and was set to work with W. Whitehead in the Fire, Casualty and Life Insurance business.

The Dublin American Legion had assured its help in the return and burial of local soldiers killed while fighting overseas.

C.A. Ward and son were set to open a feed store soon.

October 28, 1971

Five Tarleton state co-eds were nominated for the 1971 Homecoming Queen: Peggy Shewmake of Graford, Lee Ann Brown of Baird, Judy Henderson of Fort Worth, Mary Wilson of Dublin and Martha Porter of Blanket.

Dublin FFA elected officers for the new year. They included: President Mike Jurney, Vice President Bill Campbell, Secretary Daryle Brown, Treasurer Mickey Kennedy, Reporter Pat Leatherwood and Sentinel Tim Collingsworth.

November 7, 1996

The Dublin Public Library set an open house for its new facility on Nov. 24 after it was completed a month ahead of schedule. Library Board President John Vines attributed the early finish to the work of Buddy Turley.
