September 16, 1921

Dublin High School reported an enrollment of 725 for the first week of the 1921-22 school year, setting the record for highest first-week attendance up to that point.

It was reported that 824 cotton bales had been sold for the season. This number was believed to be about two-thirds of the total number of bales to be harvested in Dublin for the season.

September 12, 1946

A letter was received by the local chapter of the Red Cross from the Central Hospital Supply Service Committee of the War Organization of the British Red Cross Society for the ‘invaluable’ work done in Erath County in aiding the organization.

The 7th annual pre-Madison Square Garden Rodeo was starting with a 12-car train full of baggage, stock and personnel due to dis embark for New York the following Tuesday.

September 9, 1971

A ceremony was set Sept. 22 to place a historical marker at the Old Doublin Inn, a building erected in 1863 by Alexander H. Dobkins as a residence that was subsequently used as a stage coach inn, hotel, post office and back to a residence. Dublin Mayor Coy Wall was to act as master of ceremonies for the event and the Dublin High School band were playing special music following the school’s dismissal so students could attend the dedication at the oldest building in Dublin. state Senator J.P. Word of Meridian was also slated to speak at the ceremony.

Awards were presented to local dairymen at the 18th annual DHIA banquet. Among those honored were: Bob Traweek for Top Herd under 60; Harold Parks and Sons for Top Herd over 60 and Gold Ribbon Award for being one of four average high herds in the state; and James Traweek for Most Progressive. At the banquet, guests were reminded that Erath County was the second highest dairy producer in the state with a gross income exceeding 8 million dollars.

Elected to Dublin High School student council were: president Jimmie Fair, vice president Terry Greer, secretary D’Lena Evans, treasurer Phyllis Bone and reporter Susan Warren.

First National Bank of Dublin announced that it would be merging with the First National Bank of DeLeon and the First National Bank of Gustine.

Dr. David Kohl, a nationally-recognized agriculture researcher was the guest speakers at the sixth annual Dairy and Farm Show at Tarleton State University’s Ag Center on Highway 8 in Stephenville.
