June 1 was Bundle Day in Dublin. Bundle Day was when residents gathered up their old clothes to give to “people of the Near East”. The clothes would be bundled up and placed on the front porch where citizens involved would come and pick up the bundles to donate. A few things could not be used including: laces, silk, veils, chiffon, muslin underwear, high heeled shoes, straw hats and frame hats. New clothes and cash donations were gladly accepted.
