The Majestic Theatre posted their weekly lineup. Friday was “Moon Madness”; Saturday was “Wolves of the Border” featuring Roy Stewart; Monday played “Two Moons” starring Buck Jones; Tuesday was “Blackbirds,” a Realart Picture starring Justine Johnstane; Wednesday played “The Mutiny of the Elsinore”; Thursday was “The New York Idea” starring Alice Brady.

75 years

March 8, 1946

Work began on the counties World War II Memorial book. The Dublin Progress started to take photos and write ups of the service records of Erath County men and women who served in both World Wars. These records would be included in the Erath County World War II Memorial Book that was to be published. The community was encouraged to help submit records and photographs of soldiers to the Progress office.

50 years

March 11, 1971

The Sunset Café posted their Every Day and Night Special. On the menu was Fresh Water Catfish served with Salad, French Fried Potatoes, Hush Puppies and Hot Rolls for $1.50; Mexican Dinner served with Tamales, Enchiladas, Spanish rice, Salad, Chili, Cheese and Hot Peppers for $1.50 and Southern Fried Chicken with Salad, French Fried Potatoes, Cream Gravy and Hot Rolls for $1.50.

March 7, 1996

The Dublin Peanut Co-op filed for bankruptcy and closed its doors. One co-op director said that “there was no chance of getting out of the hole this time,” with the “hole” estimating to more than $500,000. President Tommy Elliot claimed that the economy of the area did not help saying “The only way we could survive was to increase sales, with the depressed beef cattle prices and the instability of the dairy and peanut industries, there was no way to do that.”
