Feb. 25, 1946

The Majestic Theatre had their programs for the week of February 25 to March 3. Friday’s picture was Bessie Bariscale in “Life’s Twist” and Episode 11 of “The Lost City. Saturday was Roy Stewart in “The Silent Rider”. Monday played Eileen Percy in “The Land of Jazz” and Hall Room Boys Comedy with “Wild! Wild Women”. Tuesday was Universal’s “The Gilded Dream” and Episode 4 of “Bride 13”. Wednesday was Alice Lake in “Body and Soul” and Thursday was Mary Miles Minter in “All Souls Eve”.

75 years

Feb. 22, 1946

Basil McCarty was in the Dublin Hospital after being shot three times. McCarty accused former long time Dublin resident Tom Henry of shooting him when McCarty confronted him saying “Tom, I want to talk to you.” McCarty had bullets in his left breast, left shoulder and left leg. Both parties were known in the community and the shooting came as a surprise. At the time of this story Henry had not given a statement, authorities were investigating and McCarty was expected to make a full recovery. .

Feb. 25, 1971

DISD employed Mrs. Linda Brown as a Language Arts teacher at the Junior High School. Her duties included working with small groups of students during their study hall periods and assist them with reading or related subjects in her free time.

Feb. 22, 1971

A photo of Dublin’s debate team was featured on the front page. The team won their district competition in Cisco and was to advance to state competition. The team included Cody Griggers, Meladee Hodges, Denisha Gregory and Stephanie Michael. Griggers and Hodges had won four debates in a row before being by Gregory and Michael in the finals.
