Sept. 24, 1920

Dublin Music Co. placed an ad announcing Brunswick Records where they asked customers to “Do as the music critics do. Compare records, judge then decide.” Records they recommend customers compare were Patches and Swane by Rodemich’s Orchestra; La Veeda and So Long Oolong by Jones Orchestra; When Shadows Fall I Here You Calling California and Wait’ll You See by Jones Orchestra; Aloha Oe and Kalima Waltz by Toots Paka Hawaiians; Abide With Me and Almost Persuaded by Tiffany and Lennox; Silver Threads Among the Gold by Hammond and Male Trio and In The Gloaming by Elizabeth Lennox.

Sept. 21, 1945

The City of Dublin was asked by the Texas State Health Dept. to participate in killing rats in Dublin on Monday, Sept. 24, 1945. Merchants in Dublin were asked to aid the State Representatives in any way possible as the State Representatives went from store to store distributing the new DDT formula to eliminate the rats. This process would have to be repeated approximately three times a year.

Sept. 24, 1970

A photo in the Dublin Progress featured the Dublin Junior High Cheerleaders that led the Pep Rally before game against Glen Rose. The picture featured Amy Billingsley, Vickie Durham, Rae Ann Chick, Nancy Cowan, Gail Gilbreath and Head Cheerleader Debbie Jones.

Sept. 21, 1995

A cheer camp was captured in a photo by Laura Kestner and the caption read “Just like the big girls!”. The girls in attendance had the chance to show off the skills they learned with the varsity girls at a pep rally and “more than 150 young ladies in first through sixth grades participated.”
