Crowds gathered Saturday, May 16 around the 100-foot Penatuhkah Comanche Trail mural in downtown DeLeon as a celebration honored the newly opened Penatuhkah Comanche Trail and the completion of the mural recognizing the history and heritage of the Penatuhkah Comanche people in our area. The event included remarks by Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25, above left in a photo by Brooke Mendenhall) and a ceremonial blessing of the mural by a representative of the Penatuhkah Comanche Tribe from Oklahoma. The celebration also included several vendors as well as cultural activities and storytelling throughout the day.
