A continued investigation is still underway after a house fire occurred on New Year’s Eve in Stephenville.
According to information released by Stephenville Fire Marshal Gregg Schrumpf, at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, a fire severely damaged a residence in the 900 block of East Riverside Drive. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Stephenville Fire Department and Erath County Volunteer Fire Rescue Department quickly arrived on scene and were able to bring the fire under control, preventing further damage to nearby properties.
Witnesses in the area reported seeing low flying fireworks just minutes before the fire broke out. Due to this information, the fire remains under investigation.
