Robert Kellar, a 20-year founding member of the Lingleville Volunteer Fire Department, chose to honor the 343 brave firefighters of the New York fire departments who died in responding to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks by standing for 343 minutes in silence in front of the LVFD station. Kellar stood outside the doors from 5:10 a.m. to 10:53 a.m next to a sign inviting anyone who would like to stand with him to join for as long as they wished. Kellar kept on his equipment for the whole time. He said that it was the least he could do for the brave men and women and their families and added that he thought the day should be nationally observed every year. | submitted photo
