Slew of Sept. events planned

September will offer several events and citizens are encouraged to mark their calendars now.

Rylan’s Colors for Courage will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Dublin Public Library.

Everyone is invited to join Servant Souls RC Erath in decorating the sidewalks to pay tribute to those who are fighting or have fought cancer with chalk drawings on the sidewalks.

Chalk will be provided and donations will be accepted for the Rylan Strong Network.

The Dublin Rodeo Heritage Association Annual Honoree Dinner is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Rancho Viejo, located at 11875 S. FM 219 outside Dublin.

There will be a catfish dinner and live entertainment by Teresa Burleson and Miss Devon Dawson.

New inductees will include Johnny Wayne Hampton, Row Hampton and Living Legends JJ Hampton and Jim Sharp.

There will also be a live auction benefitting the rodeo. The event serves as one of the major fundraisers for the museum and everyone is encouraged to attend, organizers said.

Dublin’s Homecoming games is set for Friday, Sept. 20 as the Lions face Bowie. Homecoming coronation will be 30 minutes prior to the game at 6:30 p.m.

Dublin’s annual Hispanic Heritage Festival is set for Saturday, Sept. 21 starting at 10 a.m. at the Dublin City Park and lasting until 11 p.m.

The preliminary schedule of events has been released and includes: 

7-9 a.m. Vendor set up 

8-10 a.m. Boxing weigh-in at Grafton Market 

10-11 a.m. Vendor booths and food trucks open, bounce houses and car show 

Noon – Lights Out boxing tournament 

2 p.m. Cabalgata Trail Ride from Hwy. 847 to Park 

3 p.m. Live music/ Musical Performances and entertainment

 4 p.m. arrival of Cabalgata 

5-8 p.m. bucking broncs, mutton busting, calf scramble and Escaramuzas perform!

8-11 p.m. Dance with live music 

The annual Ride for Sobriety will also be held Sunday, Sept. 29 starting at noon.

The trail ride on horseback starts at Dublin City Park and travels eight miles to Nozy Nabor Park.

Enjoy scenic FM 219 as you ride, experience wildlife, 1880s ladies, the occasional Indian Warrior and ladies on the prowl, organizers said.

The trail ride is $35 per rider and includes a meal and t-shirt.

The ride benefits CWJC in Dublin.
