Shop small, support local this season

Following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday will offer Dubliners the opportunity to shop local and purchase Christmas presents.

This year’s Small Business Saturday is Nov. 29. Founded by American Express in 2010 and officially cosponsored by the Small Business Association since 2011, Small Business Saturday has become an important part of small businesses’ busiest shopping season. Historically, reported projected spending among U.S. consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday reached an estimated $17.9 billion according to the 2022 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey commissioned by American Express.

Many businesses in town will be offering sales and specials for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.

“Buying from our local businesses is money well spent!,” Dublin Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Noah Cullis said. “Here are five amazing reasons why: 1. Local business are the backbone of our local and national economy.

2. Forevery$1,000.00spent for products or services provided by our local businesses, $350 will be reinvested in our community.

3. Every dollar that is spent locally will circulate in our community at least three times.

4. Our local businesses hire the local workforce and utilize goods resourced locally.

5. Purchasing from our local businesses is an investment in our local community.

“So, whether you need your clothes drycleaned, need feed for your livestock, find groceries on your shopping list or purchase lumber and supplies for that next DIY project you will get superb service and products at a great price by shopping locally. It is a win/win for everyone!”
