The former senior citizens center located at 202 E. Clinton is seeing new life as it is turned into rentable office spaces.
Owner Mack Stewart has been renovating the large building over the past few months and is turning the space into individual offices people can rent.
“I looked at the market and that’s really what is needed,” he said.
Overcoming many obstacles, Stewart has been hard at work including investing in a complete overhaul of the electrical system, redoing air conditioning and flooring. He also worked to level out the outside of the building to aid with flood problems that were common with the building.
The Dublin EDC has aided with finances through awarding a $5,000 façade grant which Stewart said was extremely helpful.
“It made a difference in me deciding whether to buy the building,” he said.
Though the building originally had five central air units, only one of them worked so Stewart decided the best course of action would be to replace them with individual hotel-like units in each office that renters can control.
Those who rent the offices will be able to secure their space with an individual key and have access to the restroom. All utilities are paid as part of the rent for an office. There is also an entrance to the building off each wing and parking available.
As an estimate, Stewart anticipates rent starting at $650 a month depending on the size.
Eventually, a meeting room and a kitchen will also be available.
