The city of Hamilton caught 11-year-old Hamilton Jones’ interest during a family flight last week.

While visiting family in Fort Worth, Hank, Hamilton, Sophia and Isaac Jones decided to take a day trip to San Antonio, but made a spontaneous landing in Hamilton just for Hamilton.

“Hamilton said he’s never seen his name printed on so many things,” said dad, Hank.

Hamilton Community Center volunteers served and delivered 1559 meals in May, an average of 71 meals per day.

In only seven months, the center, which uses the Lee Conference Center, on the south side of the square, has almost quadrupled meals served from fewer than 20 meals a day to about 80 most days in June.

Randy and Sue Mangers have shared a love for good Quarter Horses and rodeo since they first met at an AJRA Rodeo held in Comanche in 1963. They will serve as grand marshals of this year’s rodeo parade.

According to Randy, it was love at first sight and had continues even today after more than 54 years of marriage. Both rodeoed for Tarleton in the 1960s as well as completing their Bachelor of Science degrees. Master of Science degrees in Education followed for them both a few years later.

The Hico News Review

After more than three and a half years, Jerry McAdams has stepped down as Director of the Hico Economic Development Corporation effective at the Tuesday, June 7, meeting.

“I recently turned 71 and have had some health issues in the past year or so that have just left me with less energy than I used to have. I had agreed to take the EDC job on a part time basis while still publishing the newspaper and doing other activities. Rather than do a lesser job than I’d like to from the EDC, it’s better that I get on out of the way now and allow the Board to go in a new direction,” McAdams said.

The board later voted to have Hico City Administrator Andy Wolfe also serve as the EDC director, pending approval by city council.
