Riley Gardner Memorial staff recently installed the granite eagle on Hamilton County Veterans Memorial. The memorial will be dedicated in a ceremony on Memorial Day.
TxDOT officials confirmed that a feasbility study has begun on a potential relief route for Highway 281 in the City of Hamilton, citing the heavily travelled section downtown that results in traffic congestion. If the demand is sufficient, the study may result in a bypass to help the flow of traffic.

Ace Jones is heading to state competition in golf after placing third in the 3A-Region 1 Boys Golf Tournament at Shady Oaks.
The National Day of Prayer ceremony will be held today (May 5) at noon on the Comanche Courthouse lawn. Everyone is invited to bring a chair and lunch to gather for the event.
The Friends of Historic Comanche recently placed a plaque at the Historic Comanche Depot in memory of Pat Brennan and his role in saving the building as a founding board member/officer in the Save the Depot project.

The following DeLeon High School athletes qualified to compete in the Regional track meet in Springtown on April 29-April 30: Gabe Perez, Brice Brinson, Justin Hornback, Triston Robels, Kayden Salinas, Kolbe Williams, Jenna Otwell, Daisy Otwell, Jessica Otwell, Haley Stelter, Claudia Chavez, Julie Ivey and Ragaen Taylor.
Brenda Morton, president of the DeLeon ESA sorority, recently presented a check to the DeLeon Volunteer Fire Department as ‘thank you’ for the department’s efforts in keeping the community safe. The donation was provided in part through the ESA’s garage sale fundraiser.
