Mark and Donna Kuenzi, the parents/inlaws of Hamilton’s Hannah and Kyle Morgan, were features as two of Hamilton’s newest residents, after they had to evacuate in their service as missionaries in Ukraine. The Kuenzis started their mission work in the Ukraine eight years ago, when they left to aid friends in Vvendka, a small village about 40 miles from the larger city of Kharkiv in Ukraine.

Hamilton Bulldog senior powerlifter Jose Najera placed sixth at the Division 4 State Powerlifting Championships in Abilene.

Comanche Chief

The fourth annual Food Truck Rodeo in Comanche entertained people on March 26 with food and drink items from several food truck vendors and the Copper Chief Band headlining some lively Texas Country music.

DeLeon High School student Mario Pena placed third in the state powerlifting competition in Abilene.

Although the DeLeon High School One Act Play performance of “Cry of the Peacock” did not advance from the bi-district competition, it received many positive notes from judges and earned the following awards: Hannah Dyson-All Star Cast; Zaylyn Bain and Lindsi Sherrard-Honorable Mention All Star Cast; and Hannah Peterson-All Star Crew/ Cast.

Hamilton County Sheriff Justin Caraway, who was first elected into office in 2016, reported recently that he will not seek re-election when his second term ends in 2024. Caraway cited budgetary struggles, resistance to compensate officers and the “state of ideology toward the profession” as reasons for his decision. Caraway started his career, working in corrections for Tarrant county in 2002 and will have been in law enforcement for 23 years when he ends his second term.

A group of Hico High School students were among more than a dozen who pitched in and helped sweep up leaves in downtown Hico late last month.
