DeLeon Free Press

The DeLeon City Council requested updates to the city’s animal control policy after City Works Administrator Dean Thompson advised them of problems at the city shelter. The shelter is reportedly crumbling beneath the floor and the cages are considered too small, confining animals in a way that becomes unsanitary. The shelter is becoming an issue due to recent cases of dogs running loose and new state laws which prohibit chaining. This will likely result in more seizures.
