The Police Department hosted a pancake breakfast on Friday August 6 at the Community Center. Breakfast included two pancakes, meat and a drink and cost $10. All proceeds went to support the Special Olympics of Texas.

Hico’s front page read “Sales complete on 6 downtown buildings”. Clay Mazur, a Fort Worth developer, has purchased these properties with hopes of updating and renovating them and plans to lease them for business use. The properties sold include two buildings next to the Laundromat on North Railroad, the old filling station, the building next to the Masonic Lodge, Lonnie & Mabel’s Antiques building and the Edwin Black Feed Store located on the corner of Avenue A and Elm.

The Hamilton County Dove Festival will take place Labor Day weekend. The festival will start off with the Dove Run 5k followed by the parade. Chamber President Matt Johnson said “Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is excited to again put on Hamilton County Dove Festival this year with the help of our title sponsor Focused Care.” Live entertainment, vendors, vintage car show, a Diaper Derby and many other events and activities are planned for this year’s festival.

Construction crews were seen working on a busted water line. The break was about six inches and lead into the city of De Leon which forced citizens to observe a boil water notice throughout the weekend. The repairs took about three hours.
