Hamilton Herald News
The Hamilton County Commissioners Court approved a task force to use funds from American Rescue Plan Act to improve the communications systems for the county. Precinct 3 Commissioner Lloyd Huggins was given the approval to establish and chair this task force and County Judge Mark Tynes said “It’s simply a way to advance and improve the communications system overall for the county using these funds.” The current system is over 20 years old with some dead spots that dispatch cannot reach in case of an emergency. The task force will have representatives from several entities that use the dispatch system including Hamilton and Hico’s police departments, Volunteer Fire Departments, emergency medical services and the Hamilton Sheriff’s office. Huggins said “Everyone has a seat at the table. We need their input.”
