Friday, May 28th was De Leon High School’s graduation ceremony. Valedictorian and Salutatorian were named. Ashtyn Leigh Welch was named Valedictorian and graduated with a 4.030 GPA and Ethan James Dyson was named Salutatorian with a 3.982 GPA.
The Hico News Review
Cyclists from all over Texas came to Hico on May 22 for a series of races on back roads. The start and finish line was in downtown Hico with races being 30, 60 and 150 miles each. The Hico News Review posted photos of cyclists carrying their bikes through knee high water at Langston’s Crossing. The event benefitted the Hico Volunteer Fire Department with the help of a GoFundMe page set up by Gravel Locos that is run out of Arlington. It was free to enter the races with encouragement being made to donate to the GoFundMe with over $42,000 being raised.

The Hamilton EMS personnel were in southeast Texas for three days helping with flood rescue operations. Because of the heavy rains, many communities have been affected by major flooding. Hamilton sent one Mobile Intensive Care Unit with EMT Paramedic Carlene Selman, EMT Bradley Poston and EMS Captain Trey Griffin.

Homecoming celebration was on Saturday, May 29. Events included a 7 & 7k run, Washer Tournament, Cornhole Tournament, Art & Photo Show, BBQ Cook off and Sweet Bake off. Music was performed at the pavilion. Littlejohns Feed Mill provided a homecoming BBQ brisket supper plate with dessert at the community center.
