DeLeon Free Press

The DeLeon School Board discussed many agenda items including the hiring of a new athletic director and coach, Jacob Marwitz; the potential construction of a new Ag Barn and a proposal for the board to approve a Pre-Kindergarten tuition based program for three and four year old students if they do not qualify for free Pre-K under the state and federal guidelines. Dr. Dana Marable, DeLeon ISD’s Superintendent, said she would begin looking into proposals to build the Ag Barn and would update the board on her progress at the next meeting. A motion was also made to approve the proposal of the Pre-K tuition based program, presented by Lori Womack, DeLeon ISD’s Elementary School Principal. A flyer was presented after the meeting that announced open registration for the program. “A minimum of 18 students must be signed up before May 14th. The first $375 payment for parents is due on August 2, and will continue for nine months. According to Womack, that was less than $20 per day if figured on a daily cost.”
