Police gave chase Saturday morning which ended in a wreck. Aaron Lee Harris, 23, was taken into custody after allegedly evading police in Dublin. The chase continued onto Highway 16 into DeLeon where he wrecked the vehicle and caught on fire. Harris was taken to the Erath County Jail and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. Harris bonded out the next day with a $6000 bond.

The Comanche Chief

Yancy Perkins, Matthew Steele and Marshall Stewart were pictured on the front page for achieving the level of Eagle Scout this month. Steele’s Eagle project was the cleanup and restoration of Martin Creek/Branch Cemetery which included new fencing and a gate. Stewart’s project was to construct a pergola for the First United Methodist Church and was built with the help of donations from church members. Perkin’s project was to construct 9 new holes for the Comanche Disc Golf Course located at the City Park.

Hico News Review

Todd Swearengin was introduced as the new head football coach and athletic director for Hico ISD. Swearengin was introduced at the Hico School Board Meeting that took place on Monday Feb. 22 along with his wife Karla. Swearengin comes to Hico from Brock ISD where he was assistant coach and has a Masters Degree in Education that he received from Lamar University, as well as a Bachelors Degree from Tarleton State. Swearengin graduated high school in Comanche. Swearengin is replacing Coach Randy Thornton, who coached for four years.

A photo of city employees continuing to fix issues made by the winter storm was on the front page. Workers were seen working through the night to repair a water leak from the water tower. The City of Hamilton is under a boil water notice as of last Thursday and “according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality 1,259 boil water notices were in effect across the state on Monday, impacting more than 8.7 million Texans.”
