Hico News Review
The Texas Steak Cookoff that was set for May 2021 has been cancelled. With the uncertainty of COVID-19 the Board of Directors decided to cancel the event. This event has been Hico’s biggest in the last 15 years “drawing thousands of visitors”. This will be the 2nd year the event has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

Hamilton City Council authorized the hire of a new police chief on Thursday. Jason Brad Boulton will begin his duties as police chief on February 1. Boulton previously worked for the Lancaster Police Dept. and advanced through many positions ending with assistant chief which he achieved in 2014.
Comanche Chief
The General Election for Comanche County is set to be May 15 and positions to fill were announced. Two Comanche County City Council seats will be open as well as the Mayor’s seat. Dates to file for the two councilmember seats and the mayoral seat are January 15 through February 15. Winners for the 2021 Comanche County Livestock show were announced. Gage Calhoun won Grand Champion in Breeding Sheep; Savannah Skaggs, Grand Champion in Breeding Beef Heifer; Neeley Gooden, Grand Champion Market Steer and Gunner Mahan won Grand Champion in Breeding Swine.
