A photo showed a collision that resulted in a highway worker being taken to the hospital for her injuries. The wreck occurred when a pickup truck driven by 23 year old Gustine resident, Luke Zarate collided with a highway construction vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 281 on Tuesday afternoon. Highway worker Chantay Purcell, 30, was picking up traffic cones on the trailer when the vehicle was struck and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Homecoming will continue as planned with changes due to COVID-19. The traditional Wednesday night community pep rally will go on as planned but admission to the event will be ticket only. Cheer coach Patricia Leach said “At the end of the day, we will determine the number of tickets still available and announce our means of distribution.” The event will also be aired live on Hamilton High School’s Facebook page. A photo of homecoming queen nominees featured Sawyer Wright, Kady Weatherford and Macie Parrish.

History Channel’s American Pickers is returning to Texas in November. The popular television show often visits Texas and has visited Comanche County in the past. Show hosts, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz and their team are excited to return to Texas and are taking COVID guidelines and protocols seriously to make sure filming remains safe.

DeLeon High School’s 2020 Homecoming Court were announced. Candidates include Josie Amaya, Chloe Jobe, Grace Price and Chloe Stovall for Homecoming Queen; King candidates are Victor Amaya, Emery Amick, Mattson Locke and Lane Powledge. DeLeon’s homecoming game was on Sept. 25 against Seymour.
