Saturday marks the 25th annual Cowboy Capital Trail Ride and with the milestone comes a change in venue.
The trail ride, befitting the National MS Society in its crusade against multiple sclerosis, is moving from the Hunewell Ranch to the Blue Stem Ranch (west of Morgan Mill on FM 1188).
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic and often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Funds from the event will go toward research, education, advocacy and local programs that enhance the quality of life for people with MS and their families. (For more information, visit nationalmssociety.com.)
The May 7 event will begin with check-in at 8 a.m. The ride will begin at 9 a.m. and include a morning breakfast provided by the Erath County Cowboy Church and HEB, a BBQ lunch provided by the Knight of Pythias and silent and live auctions. The morning break and rest stop will be provided by Saint Gobain.
During the ride, teams of three or more will be eligible for awards, such as Top Fundraising Team, Largest Team and Most Spirited Team, while individuals will compete for Top Fundraising Individual, Traveled Farthest, Oldest Rider and Youngest Rider. Awards will be presented during lunch.
Adult riders can enter for $50 and collect donations to help with the cause. (More information is available on the website.) Entry fees for riders 12 and under are $25.
All riders must provide proof of negative Coggins testing and are responsible for turning in any donations.
