Niki McInroe-Cogburn is facing off against Valerie Stephen in the Republican Primary Runoff for Tax Assessor Collector in the Tuesday, May 28 election.
If elected, she is looking forward to working for the people.
Over the past three years, McInroe-Cogburn has been employed at the tax office as a Motor Vehicle clerk.
“In my last three years of employment at the Tax Office I have witnessed firsthand what the job entails. I want to be able to help keep the residents of the county informed about changes to tax and motor vehicle laws,” she said. “When they have questions or concerns I feel that I would be able to work to help them understand and resolve their issues. I have over 25 years of customer experience and I like to help people. I feel that I have established a relationship with many of the residents of Erath County through my past and current job.”
She is a graduate of Stephenville High School.
McInroe-Cogburn’s job history includes being a past owner of Lane Dairy, Inc. from 1993-2003, worked as the OIC at the Montreal Post Office in Montreal, Missouri, as an office manager for an electrical contractor and a drywall contractor. She was also the Administrative Assistant for a local HVAC companyfor12yearswhereher duties included billing, taking customer calls for service, dispatching and scheduling service technicians.
“If elected, I am looking forward to learning about all the tax laws and how those laws are made. [I want] to work with county residents to solve problems. I plan to work to keep the employees in the office informed as changes are made to motor vehicle laws and processing procedures. Work environment matters and it would be my goal to make sure that everyone in the office feels like part of the team,” she said. “I believe that it is always important to be kind to people, to treat others the way that you want to be treated and to give respect in order to get respect. A really good friend always tells me that when I am struggling that I just need to give it to God. I try to do that.”
McInroe-Cogburn’s family includes her husband of almost 13 years, Tim, three children, two bonus daughters and seven bonus grandkids.
