Jerod James has announced he is running for Lingleville ISD School Board Place 3, facing incumbent Larry Griffin in the Nov. 5 general election. James posted the following introduction on social media in announcing his candidacy. “My beautiful wife, Tawnya James, grew up in Lingleville and graduated from Lingleville High school in 1997. Tawnya went to Tarleton State and graduated with an accounting degree. I also attended TSU where I earned a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.

We recently moved to the Lingleville community, but our hearts have been here for several years. Because of the great education that we felt Tawnya had received here, several years ago we decided to enroll our children in Lingleville schools.

“Our son, Hunter, graduated from Stephenville High School. Our oldest daughter, Kaylee, graduated from Lingleville ISD in 2021. She is now a senior at TSU. Our daughter, Brynlee, is a freshman, and our youngest child, Preslee is a fifth grader in the district. Our hearts are rooted deeply in this community.

“I have always been a strong proponent of the school system, the quality of education, the athletic program, the overall wellbeing of our children and the guidance they are given to prepare for their future. We have seen great things happen at our schools which are the core of our community. “Parents, teachers and coaches, administrators, and community members have engaged with the school board to provide our students with the best opportunity to succeed in public education.

“The world around us may tolerate mediocrity, but the community of Lingleville values hard work and excellence. With your support, I would love to be a trustee of Lingleville ISD as we consistently strive to provide the very best education for our children.

“As a board member, I would be a fresh set of ears and eyes. I promise to listen to the concerns of the community and to look at issues from all perspectives. I have no agenda or specific changes that I want to institute. I sincerely want to serve as an advocate for Lingleville ISD, our children, and our community.

“My parents, a retired teacher and superintendent, always said that the best investment a person can make is an investment in the life of a child. Guided by God, and the people of this community, I want to invest in our greatest assets, our children. I would be honored to have your vote in November for Seat 3 on the Lingleville ISD School Board.”
