The Dublin Public Library has a ton of events coming up and part of those are due to the library launching its Mission to Mindfulness program this month.

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) has awarded funding to libraries through its Special Projects Grant program.

“We are excited to announce the launch of our Mission to Mindfulness program, set to begin in November,” Library Director Adina Dunn said. “This innovative program will offer a range of activities designed to promote mindfulness and well-being in our community. Participants can look forward to mindful movement sessions for children, yoga classes for all ages, sensory-safe story times, and cooking classes that cater to everyone.” This project is just one of more than 40 grants made possible this year by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act. Mindfulness programs will include:

•Coffee and Coloring: Coloring for adults – Second Tuesdays of the month at 5 p.m. (next one is Dec. 10) The Cooking Chronicles: cooking classes for all ages with Charlie Cart (the dates will vary)

•Reading & Rhythm: movement focused story time for ages 2-5 - Second Saturdays at 10 a.m. (first class begins at Dec. 14)

This is the second year for the contest and tiny canvases are $1 each. Any medium can be used on the canvases and they will be judged on creativity. They are due back by Dec. 13 and there is a winner in each age group and the overall winner will win a grand prize.

In December, the library will be hosting two Oreo showdowns one for ages 7-12 on Tuesday, Dec. 3 and one for ages 13-18 Thursday, Dec. 5. Both events are at 4:30 p.m. Kids will blind taste test different flavors of Oreo’s, take their best guess, and rank them! Which Oreo will come out on top?
