Prayers are continuing for Erath County Judge Alfonso Campos who recently released more information regarding his battle with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
After samples were taken from his July 6 surgery to remove the prostate and lymph nodes from the same area, both were positive, indicating continued spread, information released in a statement said.
Further treatment will be required.
“Connie and Judge Campos thank the fine staff(s) at both Hendrick Medical Center in Brownwood and Scott & White Hospital in Temple and all their neighbors, friends and coworkers for their continued prayers and support,” the statement said.
Campos has been absent from Erath County Commissioner’s Court meetings for at least two months but is continuing as county judge, signing checks and handling county business as necessary.
Commissioner Joe Brown has been leading Commissioners Court meetings in Campos’ absence.
Campos has been county judge since January 2019. Growing up in Erath County, he graduated from Huckabee ISD and earned a business degree from Tarleton.
He retired as a game warden after 20 years of service. Campos’ term as judge ends Dec. 31, 2022, when judgeelect Brandon Huckabee will take seat as county judge.
