Holiday happenings kick off this week

This weekend ushers in local holiday events and there is no shortage of things to do, after residents have had their fill of turkey.

Black Friday at Lucky Vines Lucky Vines will be hosting a Black Friday event from 1-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28.

Small business vendors will be on site.

Lucky Vines is located at 675 CR 497 in Dublin.

Stephenville/Dublin KOA Annual Christmas Festival

The Stephenville/Dublin KOA will be hosting its annual Christmas Festival from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29.

The event will include pictures with Santa, face painting, live Christmas trees for sale, bounce houses, games and pedal cars, free brisket tacos courtesy of Dublin Family Worship. There will also be a free $50 Visa gift card giveaway.

General admission is $10, but with every can of food you donate, you get $1 off (up to $5 total). The event is free for those who are staying in the park.

The KOA is located at 1205 N. FM 219 in Dublin.

ChristmasVILLE in Stephenville

This Saturday, Stephenville Main Street will host its annual Christmasville festivities in downtown Stephenville.

From 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. there will be a chili cook off, local shopping all day, live music from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., carriage rides from noon to 5 p.m., and a lighted Christmas parade at 6 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony and fireworks following afterwards along with a CB Sutton concert.

The schedule includes Pancakes with Santa at 9 a.m. at Greer’s Ranch Cafe, in-store activities start at 10 a.m., vendors open at 10:30 a.m., Progressive bingo from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., carriage rides from noon to 5 p.m., Rudolph’s chili cook off and bingo winners announced at 4:30 p.m., lighted parade at 6 p.m., tree lighting and fireworks at 6:50 p.m. and CB Sutton concert from 7-8:30 p.m. Both the tree lighting/fireworks and concert times are tentative based off the time the Christmas parade finishes.

Upcoming Christmas Events The Dublin Chamber of Commerce is hard at work with several events for the holiday season.

Currently, all businesses are invited to enter the chamber’s Store Decorating Contest.

To enter, drop by an item from your store for inclusion in the chamber’s holiday basket raffle giveaway.

First place for the storefront contest is $300, second place is $200 and third place is $100.

Entries should display the Cowboy Christmas Theme.

The winner for the contest will be announced Dec. 6 and the raffle winner will also be drawn on Dec. 6.

Tickets for the raffle are $25 or five for $100, and can be purchased from any chamber board member or by stopping by the chamber office 9 a.m to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Dublin Cowboy Christmas event/parade The chamber is also busy planning its annual Cowboy Christmas event set for Saturday, Dec. 6.

Vendors will open at 11 a.m. at Celebration Park (next to Dublin Bottling Works) and Dublin Market Days will also be at Wright Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. helping everyone find those special holiday gifts.

This year’s Christmas Parade will happen at 6 p.m. with an altered parade route due to construction downtown.

Parade lineup will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the City Park on Highland Avenue. The parade will head down Highland Avenue, turn left on Hwy. 6 and Blackjack Street making its way through downtown and then turn right on Post Oak near the taco truck and end at the vacant lots nearby.

Right after the Christmas parade, everyone is invited over to Wright Park to participate in the 2nd annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony hosted by the Dublin Lions Club.

The Church of the Lost and Found will be providing hot cocoa, the Dublin Woman’s Thursday Club will be providing homemade cookies and there will be music.

At 7 p.m. the Dandi-Lions will be performing at Doublin’ In located at the corner of Elm and Grafton and at 7:30 p.m. Lindsay Hightower will perform. From 7 to 8:30 p.m. Santa Claus and The Grinch will be at Doublin’ In.

In case of inclement weather, Santa and The Grinch will be moved indoors to the chamber office located at 112 S. Grafton St. The parade is rain or shine.

Annual Christmas Lighting contest

The city of Dublin, The Dublin Citizen, Revitalize Dublin and The Dublin Chamber of Commerce are partnering together for this year’s annual Christmas Lighting Contest.

Each entity will judge one quadrant of the city Dec. 14 and 15, and the top five will be selected from each area with photos taken.

Then the citizens will vote on who they think are the top winners. Winners will be published in The Dublin Citizen Christmas edition and online.

If you want to participate please make sure your home is lit and inflatables are up both Dec. 14 and 15.
