On Saturday, Aug. 9, The Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) held a district meeting in Glen Rose.
In conjunction the Children of the Republic of Texas also held a meeting led by Patti Flanary member of the Bosque River Chapter of DRT.
At the conclusion of the group meeting, the members of the Bosque River Chapter held a meeting to elect officers for the coming year and to receive certificates for completed projects during the last two years. The projects covered such items as cleaning cemeteries, identifying graves of ancestors, or drawing a family tree back to their Republic of Texas ancestor. To become a member of the Children of the Republic of Texas a child can be a newborn up to age 21 and be directly descended from a man or woman who served the Republic of Texas honorably prior to 1846.
