Granville N. Young (Pee Wee) was born on June 20, 1926 in Odessa and recently celebrated his 100th birthday!
After graduating high school, he became a firefighter for the city of Odessa.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy and traveled across the Pacific six times on an aircraft carrier.
He married Aricka Stuart in 1953 and worked in Oklahoma City before moving to Stephenville in 1974. He has two daughters, Karen Denise of Erath County, Patty Michelle of Hamilton County, and one granddaughter, Belinda, of Hico. An avid and scratch golfer, Stephenville citizens have undoubtedly seen Pee Wee playing at the local courses daily for the past 50 years. Hehasgivenmany golf lessons to the youth of Erath county and been a fixture at most weekly local scrambles and tournaments.
At 100, he still enjoys visiting with golfers at Legends golf club and frequently visits many Stephenville restaurants. As a long time customer of Peacock’s Restaurants, the staff wanted to give him a special day for his 100th.
He was surprised with decorations, a cake, card and gifts last Saturday.
The fully packed restaurant sang Happy Birthday and were given a piece of German chocolate cake to help celebrate.
