Halloween events slay this Friday

It is officially Halloween week and Dublin is pulling out all the stops to make sure everyone has a spooktacular time.

On Friday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. Dublin Elementary School will host its annual Spook Parade at Memorial Stadium (located by the elementary school).

Everyone is invited to come see the young ghosts, ghouls and latest Marvel characters as they parade around the field.

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual Safe Trick-or-Treating from 4-6:30 p.m. in downtown Dublin.

The event will allow kids of all ages to go from door-todoor to collect candy and goodies from businesses. The event will occur downtown.

Call the chamber at 254445-3422 to get a spot.

Regular door-to-door trick or treating will also take place on Halloween night and the 3rd annual Candy Map is available on page A7, on Dublin Citizen, Dublin TX Chatter, The Dublin Chamber of Commerce Facebook page and a physical copy will be pinned on the ‘Crime Scene’ board outside Shenanigans in downtown on Oct. 30.

The Dublin Masonic Lodge will also be hosting its annual treats and games inside the lodge located at 205 E. Elm St. during Safe Trick-or-Treat.

The Dublin Heritage Rodeo Museum will be hosting a burger fundraiser from 4-7 p.m.

Dublin Family Worship (formerly Calvary Fellowship) is hosting a harvest festival starting at 5 p.m. Friday with games, candy, music and food.

The event is free and everyone is welcome, organizers said.

The church is located at 604 N. Patrick St.

Both Dairy Queen and Sonic will be hosting Halloween specials. DQ is offering half price kids meals and Sonic is offering 50 cent corn dogs.

The Dublin Public Library is hosting an annual Escape Room fun with ‘Escape the 80s at the Library!’

Step back in time to 1989 and try to escape the haunted VHS rental store before it’s too late!

The cost is $5 per person or $3 with a library card.

Time limit is 45 minutes per group. Groups can be up to six people, or as little as two.

The event is happening from Oct. 28 through Nov. 1.

While you are out and about downtown, stop and view decorated pumpkins (and grab some candy) at Salyer Chiropractic Clinic.

The clinic is hosting a pumpkin decorating contest and while the deadline to enter has passed, the pumpkins will be on full display for everyone to see on Halloween.

Several costume contests will be held this year including the annual digital costume contest between The Dublin Citizen, The Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Dairy Queen.

The costume contest is open to all ages Oct. 25 through Oct. 31 and there are cash prizes and gift cards. Submit photos to composing@ dublincitizen. com and include the name and age of the participant.

The costumes will be judged by residents at Three Oaks Assistant Living residents.

Shenanigans in downtown Dublin will be having a Halloween Party with a kids costume contest on Halloween. The contest is for kids 12 and under and teens 13-19 with the top prize of $100. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. and the contests will begin at 7:30 p.m. You must be present to win at the event. There will also be spooky trailer rides after trick-ortreating starting around 7:30 p.m. There will also be drink specials at the event and the costume contest will be judged by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

Backwoods will also be hosting a Halloween Party on Oct. 31 which will include bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. and a kids and adult costume contest plus live music. The kids costume contest will be held at 8:30 p.m. The adult costume contest will be held at 10 p.m. with first place being $1,000 cash, second place is four steak dinners and third place is a gift basket.

DJ Sean Perry will start playing at 8:30 p.m.
