Chance Garrett is running for the position of Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 and is looking to bring his experience in law enforcement to the office.
Garrett, the current manager of Stone’s Auto in Dublin, reported that he was a police officer for 10.5 years.
“I have served as the evidence/property manager, Patrol Sergeant, Dispatcher, School Resource Officer and many other active roles in the departments I have been at,” he said. “I currently hold an Intermediate Police Officer License with the State of Texas and am one class away from being an Advanced Police Officer.”
“I have over 1600 hours in Law Enforcement continuing education,” he added. “I think this training and experience allows for me to be the best candidate for this position.”
In addition to his experience as a police officer, Garrett also served as an EMT Basic, initially thinking that was what he wanted to be. He attended Weatherford’s Law Enforcement Academy in 2008-2009 and graduated valedictorian of his class.
After getting his license, he became a part-time officer at the college, before working as dispatch/law enforcement in Weatherford and an officer in Rhome.
He went from there to serving Springtown, where he became a patrol sergeant. He worked there for four years before transferring to Dublin to accept an SRO position. From there, he stepped into a management position.
“I am currently the Stone’s Auto Supply Store Manager and oversee three employees and over one million dollars in inventory,” said Garrett
Garrett may also be recognized as a referee, officiating in multiple sports— basketball, softball and volleyball. “In these sports I have to be a fair and impartial party just as a Justice of the Peace would have to be,” Garret said.
Garrett has also been a member of the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department since moving to town in 2019 and previously served departments in Rhome and Alvord. Garrett previously reported that Dublin “feels like home,” a claim he has reinforced by settling here, along with his Blue Heeler/ Australian Shepherd mix dog, Jack He looks forward to the possibility of serving his neighbors as JP.
