BROWNWOOD
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 40 degrees; 1.82 feet low. Fishing weather is good as we head into a weekend with consistent weather and good winds. Largemouth bass are good with perch like crankbaits, brown or green Texas-rigged plastic worms, chartreuse bladed spinners, and shaky head jigs near timber, rocky shorelines, and docks. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles and near bridge pilings. White bass and hybrids are good on slabs, swimbaits, and live bait along the main lake channels, humps, and ridges. Look for birds diving over feeding schools of white bass. Catfish are good on shrimp, chicken liver, and live bait.
GRANBURY
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 41 degrees; 0.41 feet low. Striped bass are slow and scattered throughout the reservoir biting on slow moving swimbaits and crankbaits and deadsticking. Report by Kraig Sexton, Sexton’s Guide Service. Visibility is increasing on the north end. The freezing temps had fish congregating in the channel during the day, and baitfish hugging the bottom in 25-30 feet of water. Daytime bite has been pretty good on cut shad and drum. Night time has had them scattered. Marking big fish up on shallow flats roaming but not aggressively feeding. This should improve over the next few weeks. Report by Jeff Sojourner, Sojourner Fishing.
POSSUM KINGDOM
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 45 degrees; 1.41 feet low. All fishing is being done from mid lake to north lake. Striped bass fishing is amazing. Fish are fat and healthy, starting to see eggs in all the fish. Live bait has been consistent. Deadsticking is still doing good using chartreuse, white, and silver flake colors. Alabama rigs in chartreuse, pink, white, and silver are working in schooling fish. Sand bass are great on live bait, and deadsticking. Seeing catches weighing in around two-plus pounds. Catfish are good fishing both shallow and deep depending on time of day using cut shad fished on bottom.
PROCTOR
SLOW. Water clear; 42 degrees; 1.66 feet low. Crappie are fair near brush piles in Copperas Creek Park on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair drifting in the High Point area biting on cut bait. White bass and hybrid stripers are slow, try smaller slabs this weekend as the fish will be lethargic. Black bass are slow.
WEATHERFORD GOOD. Water lightly
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 42 degrees; 3.07 feet low. Fishing should improve some with the warmer weather this weekend. Largemouth bass are good on blue/back chatterbait or crankbaits. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows in brush piles. Catfish are fair to good using cheese bait. Lake Proctor
