Fishing report

Body

BROWNWOOD

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 46 degrees; 1.86 feet low. Fishing weather is good as we head into a weekend with consistent weather and good winds. Largemouth bass are good with perch like crankbaits, brown or green Texas-rigged plastic worms, chartreuse bladed spinners, and shaky head jigs near timber, rocky shorelines, and docks. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs in brush piles and near bridge pilings. White bass and hybrids are good on slabs, swimbaits, and live bait along the main lake channels, humps, and ridges. Look for birds diving over feeding schools of white bass. Catfish are good on shrimp, chicken liver, and live bait.

GRANBURY

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 48-52 degrees; 0.60 feet low. Ready or not, the cold snap is coming. Bluecats are good biting on cut drum and cut shad, in 1-18 feet of water on the north end of the lake. The morning bite is better along the deeper main channels, with the shallower water flats producing as morning temperatures rise. The afternoon and night bite is slow until the early morning hours. Channel catfish can be most easily located under trees with roosting birds, and can be caught on smaller pieces of cut shad or prepared punch bait. Anglers should keep moving to find actively feeding fish, as not all schools are feeding at the same time. Short moves of 100-200 yards can make the difference in being in a feeding school. Shad are holding tight to the bottom from 14-31 feet deep along main river channels. Catfish report by Mike Watkins, Personal Best Guide Service. The weather seems to have catfish on the move following the shad towards mid lake, scattered on the north end. Marking big fish on shallow flats, and channel catfish near brush in 2-4 feet catching on cut buffalo and shad. Report by Jeff Sojourner, Sojourner Fishing.

POSSUM KINGDOM

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 51 degrees; 1.40 feet low. This cold front could potentially cause the bite to slow. Striped bass are great deadsticking with spoons, and live bait. Whitebass are great deadsticking with small spoons and live bait. Chartreuse, pink, white and silver spoons are the best colors currently for stripers and sandbass. Catfish are good on cut shad fished on the bottom of the river channel. Report by TJ Ranft, Ranft Guide Service.

PROCTOR

SLOW. Water clear; 49 degrees; 1.91 feet low. Fish will move deeper after the temperature decreases with the cold front. Crappie are fair near brush piles in Copperas Creek Park on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair drifting in the High Point area biting on cut bait. White bass and hybrid stripers are slow try smaller slabs this weekend as the fish will be lethargic. Black bass are slow.
