It’s time to get your Blizzard on and to figure out once and for all who is better – police or fire?
Miracle Treat Day, which will raise funds for Cook Children’s Medical Center, will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 31 at the Dublin Dairy Queen.
This year will feature a car show as well as a contest between police and fire to see who can raise the most money in Blizzards. $1 from each Blizzard sold throughout the day will be donated to the hospital.
“The money we raise helps families that need care from Cook Children’s,” DQ Manager Shanna Phelps said. “It helps support treatments and care for our local children. Everyone has either been to Cooks or knows someone who has, and to know it helps so many families is priceless.”
During the event, those wanting to support the police department are invited to stop in from 5-6 p.m. and those wanting to support the fire department are invited to stop in from 6-7 p.m.
Both PD and fire will have representatives there helping behind the counter (with supervision) to ensure the public gets the perfect Blizzard treat.
“We are honored to participate in Miracle Treat Day, which aligns with our mission of serving those in need. The funds raised will support local children’s hospitals, enabling treatments, research and family-centered care,” Dublin Fire Chief Paul Warner said. “We cordially invite everyone to visit Dairy Queen during the firefighters’ scheduled time slot of 6-7 p.m. If you arrive earlier, you will be supporting the donut-eating police department group, and while firefighters are the superior group, the ultimate winners regardless will be the kids. Come get a Blizzard!”
The Dublin Police Department is also excited to help out with Miracle Treat Day.
“We are teaming up with the fire department at the Miracle Event, serving Blizzards and big smiles at Dairy Queen – all for a great cause. It will be a sweet showdown, but let’s be honest the PD will bring the real chill!” Police Chief Cameron Ray said.
There will also be a prize basket raffle and donations will also be accepted.
