Events honor Veterans today

Body

Events have been set in Dublin and Stephenville today to honor local Veterans in observation of Veterans’ Day.

Quilt of Valor

A Quilt of Valor ceremony hosted by the Dublin Historical Museum will be held at 6 pm on November 11 to honor two Vietnam veterans by presenting them with original, homemade quilts.

The Quilt of Valor Foundation was established in 2003 by a mother of a deployed soldier in Iraq. Since then it has grown to be international and has awarded over 280,000 quilts to veterans touched by war. The quilts are high quality and not charity.

They are intended as an award for a nominated veteran, and the event is not a celebration, it is a recognition of service. The public is welcome to attend this meaningful ceremony on Veterans Day.

Nominations for veterans touched by war to receive a quilt can be made online at https:// www.qovf.org/ nominations-awards/ or contact Elaine Smith at ridinaround@yahoo.com.
