Daniel Scott Slocomb, 56, was recently indicted on numerous charges related to the alleged sexual assault of a child.
Slocomb was indicted Thursday, Dec. 18 by the Erath County Grand Jury on four counts of sexual assault of a child (enhanced), sexual performance by a child (enhanced) and two counts of indecency with a child (enhanced), all Second Degree felonies.
Slocomb was arrested and is detained in the Erath County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
Charges stem from a series of alleged acts that were committed on Aug. 3, 2024 in Erath County involving a 15-year-old boy with an intellectual disability.
The outcry was made by the victim’s father, who stated his son “John” had a sexual relationship with an adult male, identified as Slocomb.
According to information released via the arrest warrant, the victim identified Slocomb to his father and said they had been communicating through SnapChap and Facebook Messenger. The dad originally began questioning his son because he had recently been acting depressed.
The father said he looked at “John’s” conversations with Slocomb and saw several messages back and forth that were sexual in nature, and it appeared the minor had sent nude photos and videos to Slocomb.
The chats led to “John” sneaking out of the house to meet Slocomb, who took him to various hotels and backroads where the sexual assaults took place over the span of about a year.
“John” was forensically interviewed at the Paluxy River Chidren’s Advocacy Center in reference to his relationship with Slocomb. The Facebook Messenger conversation appears to corroborate the information given by John during the forensic interview.
After the forensic interview was completed, the victim and his dad met officers at Stephenville PD where “John” was shown a driver’s license photo of Slocomb who was IDed as the same person the victim had been exchanging messages and nude photographs with, and who assualted him. The victim stated he was 100% sure that it was Slocomb.
“John” estimated that he had sexual encounters with Slocomb 100 separate times. He also indicated more than one juvenile male friends of his were also meeting up with Slocomb and exchanging nude photos and videos with him. The possibility of additional victims is still being investigated.
