The Dublin EDC is in the process of establishing an application and guidelines for those who may want to be board members.
Board member Jeff Weaver recently resigned from the board leaving a vacancy. The board accepted his resignation at the Tuesday, July 22 meeting.
“We’ve had several who have asked to be on the board so I think we need to come up with a procedure on how we want to do that,” EDC Board President Paul Bradberry said.
“Would it be out of line to request a resume or something?” Board Member Lanora Davidson asked.
“Some of the discussion has been looking at what we bring to the table and what someone else might contribute in a unique way,” Board Member Sammy Moore said.
The board directed EDC Executive Director Noah Cullis to come up with an application to present to the board before the next meeting.
The EDC also received a presentation from Lori E. Dodd, Executive Director for Texas Midwest Community Network. The presentation was about their visitor’s guide publication that is distributed in a regional area and about the EDC’s membership.
The board was also supposed to receive a presentation from Interim City Manager and Police Chief Cameron Ray who was unable to be present at the meeting due to being out of town.
Moore, who is also on City Council, gave an update a little on potential projects the city may be asking for funding help on from the EDC including Hwy. 6 infrastructure or the community center building in the City Park.
“That’s the ask. If the city was to pick a project like that would the EDC have resources that the city doesn’t to help fund it?” Moore asked.
Cullis said while he could not speak for the board they were in the middle of putting together their budget.
“I think this is good timing,” he said.
Moore said often times EDCs are eligible for federal and state grants on projects that cities are not eligible for.
Cullis also updated the board on their new EDC website, a potential future grant for a new digital sign for the Corner Lot and business complaints about the ongoing TxDOT project.
