The Dublin Citizen will be closed Friday in observance of Good Friday and the Easter holiday Sunday.
The Dublin community has several ways to recognize the holiday with a massive free Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow, an Easter play and several special services set.
The Dublin Easter EGGstravaganza will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Good Friday, April 15 at the City Park on Highland Avenue.
Organizers have collected 10,000 eggs to be divided by age at staggered times to allow parents and guardians to watch all youngsters hunt. The day will start off with a special needs and sensory sensitive hunt, followed by birth to pre-K, K-3rd grade and 4th through 6th grade group.
Each group will have prize eggs for Easter baskets and one lucky group will have a small blizzard for a year as one of the prizes!
The Easter Bunny will be on site for photos as well as bounce houses and a fun truck for kids to play in.
Calvary Fellowship will be handing out free food at the event and there will also be free popcorn, snow cones and other treats.
Cottonwood Church is presenting a free “original theatrical presentation of the resurrection story in “The Faces of Easter” on Friday and Saturday.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday. a free community meal will be served at 5 p.m. on Saturday. For more info on the play, visit cottonwoodlife.org or call (254) 445-2929.
Several special worship services have been announced including the following.
Dublin First United Methodist Church will host several services including a Maundy Thursday service with communion tonight at 6:30 p.m. and a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. FUMC will started Sunday blessings early with an Easter sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. in the atrium followed by a free pancake breakfast. This will be followed by the regular service at 11 a.m.
Trinity Anglican Church will host Good Friday services at 6:30 p.m. and an Easter Mass at 9 a.m. with a reception to follow.
Double N Cowboy Church will host a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. and Sunday Easter services at 10 a.m. (with children’s church and nursery provided). The Easter morning service will be followed by an Easter Egg hunt.
Saint Mary’s Catholic Church will have a Holy Thursday service tonight at 7 p.m., a Good Friday service Friday at 7 p.m., an Easter Vigil service on Saturday at 8 p.m. and an Easter Sunday service at 9 a.m.
Even those local Christian churches that aren’t holding special services will likely have an Easter morning service on April 17. The Dublin Citizen wishes everyone a safe Easter.
