Dublin Senior Citizens Center News

Body

We are extending an invitation to all persons age 50 to 106 years old to join us for exercises from Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. We are now meeting at the new “Community Building” between First National Bank and Dairy Queen. We would like to thank First National Bank, Pat and Lee Leatherwood for allowing us to use their facility for our seniors to continue exercising.

We do Chair Exercises designed for all seniors, no matter the disability, because moving your joints helps to keep us active. We play “Mexican Train” dominoes on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon after exercise. Bring your own cards, “42” dominoes or crossword puzzles, and bring a friend along.

Subscribe to The Dublin Citizen newspaper for the crossword puzzle, as we have a member that would love to help you solve the puzzle. I will warn you in advance, she is good!

We would like to thank some of the businesses that helped us through the years when we had our fundraisers that kept our center open. During the pandemic and subsequent -4 degree freeze, we lost the use of our building and could not raise funds to repair it.

If I have inadvertently left any business off this list, I apologize. We would also like to thank all the great citizens of Dublin who bought tickets for our fundraisers. You helped us keep the center open for many years. Thanks also goes to past and present members who donated food and time to run those fundraisers.

A special thanks goes to Paul and Cindy at The Dublin Citizen newspaper. They published articles every week that I wrote to inform the public of our events and our exercise days and times. These are two of the sweetest people you will ever know and they publish our “great newspaper”.

We will hold our quarterly board meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 30, right after exercise.

Thank you again, First National Bank, Pat Leatherwood and Lee Leatherwood for giving us a wonderful place for our seniors to meet and enjoy companionship, exercise and hugs! (Don’t’ forget the hugs!!)
