The Rodeo Heritage Museum “Drive Thru Pulled Pork Lunch” held on Friday Oct 16, 2020 was a success thanks to our donors and volunteers.
The thought that you may pick up a pulled pork lunch and not have to get out of your car proved to be a successful event for the Rodeo Heritage Museum during these Covid-19 times.
A big “thank you” goes out to the volunteers: Marion & Ross Surles, Brody & Stanley Anderson, Mac McKinnon, Charles Faulkner, Mary Wood, Olivia Greensage, and Peggy Tolboom. Also, a big “thank you” goes out to our donors: Dublin Dairy Queen, Golden Chick, Sonic Drive In, Brookshire Brothers and Mrs. Bairds. The Rodeo Heritage Museum gives a special “thank you” to those that donated & volunteered: Judy Lunsford who volunteered on site and made those good beans for the lunch, Deanna Turley that volunteered on site and cooked those delicious mini pound cakes, Chuck Doane whom cooked and served the pulled pork and Norma Doane whom made and served that wonderful macaroni salad.
We are proud that we may continue to tell the Everett Colborn’s World’s Championship Rodeo and the Dublin Rodeo stories to the world.
The Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum Facebook page holds historical rodeo stories and biographies and now has over 2,000 followers.
We have a gem in Dublin that the world wants to know about, after all what does the state of Texas and stand for, “cowboys”? I once had the chamber of commerce manager come to the museum with people from Ireland. She said “these people don’t want to see anything Irish they want to see “cowboys”. We have visitors from Ireland, Germany, Denmark and a lot of out of state visitors as well.
We are also listed in Stephenville’s motels as points of interest in Erath County. The many biographies and stories that this museum holds is never ending.
If you love history you will love this museum that tells the story of a man that chose Dublin Texas to headquarter his national rodeo company of Madison Square Garden Rodeo fame. You will be surprised to learn that the tour will take 30 to 45 minutes as you learn of many historical stories, biographies and legends of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s national rodeos and the Dublin Rodeo as well as the town of Dublin during that time.
The funds from this event enables the Rodeo Heritage Museum to continue recording oral histories, documenting biographies, new photo collections, special tributary events and educating a worldwide audience.
