As we head into the final stretch of the school year, there’s no shortage of exciting events, academic milestones, and student accomplishments to celebrate. Here’s a look at what’s coming up!
The current six-week grading period will officially close this Friday. Students are encouraged to check with their teachers and make sure all assignments are submitted before the deadline.
April 11th is shaping up to be one of the busiest days this spring!
TheAnatomy&Physiology class will take a field trip to Abilene for a cadaver lab experience.
Our Greenhouse Plant Sale will run from 1 to 5 p.m. Come support our ag department and pick up some beautiful plants for your spring garden.
Students will also be participating in the Future Problem Solvers (FPS) State Competition in Waco, which runs April 11–13.
Meanwhile, our FCCLA team will be competing in Dallas from April 10–13. Good luck to all of our students representing our school!
One-Act Play Public Performance Don’t miss the OAP public performance on Saturday, April 19th at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets are $5. Come out and support our talented theatre students for an evening of outstanding performance.
Senior Scholarship Boot Camp Seniors, mark your calendars for Tuesday, April 15th. The Scholarship Boot Camp will provide valuable resources and guidance as you prepare for college and scholarship applications.
Testing Season in Full Swing State testing kicks off on April 8 with the STAAR 7th Grade RLA exam, followed by the STAAR 8th Grade RLA on April 9. High school students will take the English I EOC on April 10, English II EOC on April 15, and the U.S. History EOC on April 16. Science and math assessments round out the month, with the Biology EOC on April 22 and Algebra I EOC on April 29.
Competitions and Performances April is also competition season, with the FCCLA Competition taking place in Dallas from April 10–13, and the FPS Competition happening in Waco from April 11–13. On April 19, the One Act Play (OAP) troupe will present a public performance at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
Celebrating Student Success May brings a series of events to honor student achievements. The NHS Banquet is scheduled for May 1 at 5:30 PM, followed by the Athletic Booster Banquet on May 5 at 6:00 PM. Upperclassmen will head to Tarleton State University for a college trip on May 7, and the Spring Band Concert will take place on May 8 at 6:00 PM.
Additional celebrations include the FFA Banquet on May 13, the High School Awards Program on May 14 at 9 a.m., and the muchanticipated Prom on May 17. The Baccalaureate service is set for May 18 at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, and the Senior Scholarship Banquet will be held May 20 at 5:30 p.m.
Culminating the Year
The academic year concludes with Graduation on May 23 at 7:00 PM, to be held at Bob and Norma Cervetto Field, where the Class of 2025 will celebrate their hard-earned achievements surrounded by family, friends, and faculty.
With so much going on, it’s clear that our students, teachers, and staff are finishing the year strong. Let’s continue to show support, stay focused, and make these last few weeks count!
