A Dublin farm delivered up 2,000 eggs to the Erath community, right when their neighbors needed them most.

Alfonso Briseno, who operates Intensidad Farms with his dad, Jose Briseno, was scrolling through Facebook when he saw a post detailing all of the items that were sold out at local grocery stores and noticed eggs on the list.

Alfonso thought his 197,000 chicken farm could offer some help so he contacted their partner, Hi Line, and quickly got approval to donate some of the farm fresh eggs laid at Intensidad.

Intensidad, like much of the area, was hit hard by the winter weather as their power went out and they had to turn to their diesel generator to keep operations going and their animals warm. Alfonso made trips to Dublin, Stephenville, Comanche and Weatherford to acquire fuel as stations experienced shortages. One of Intensidad’s water pumps went out prompting their maintenance worker to toil away in the well at midnight to get it running again.

Alfonso called Stephenville Police Department about the donation and was directed to the Erath County United Way, where an appreciative Lisa Scroggins helped him set up the donation.

“She asked how many we could donate,” Alfonso said. “I asked, ‘How many do you need?’”

Scroggins was blown away by the generosity, calling the Intensidad team one of those “community heroes” that steps up to fill a need. “No other community comes together like Erath does,” Scroggins asserted.

It was decided that they would donate 2,000 and bring them to Erath County COVID vaccine center (the former Stephenville JC Penney and FFO) on Saturday to be handed out alongside water that was available to anyone in need.

Alfonso loaded up his truck and stayed about 30 minutes of the two-hour block, witnessing grateful neighbors receiving the donation.

“It was awesome,” Alfonso said. “I was taking and sending pictures to my family; We were so proud to be able to do that.”

Alfonso credits the donation to his entire team at Intensidad, saying that it’s through all of their efforts that day-today operations get done and were able to continue through the winter storms.
