The Dublin ISD School Board was presented with STAAR and End of Course updates during the regular June meeting on Monday night.

Dublin High School’s EOC scores had come in with the following passing results:

■ Algebra- 87%

■ English I- 79%

■ English II- 84%

■ U.S. History- 98%

■ Biology- 99%

“We’re very pleased with the results,” said Dublin ISD Superintendent Melissa Summer. “We have high expectations and the kids meet them.”

Summers said that state averages are not reported as of yet, but believes that Dublin’s scores will be well above them.

Total STAAR results are not reported yet but have performed better than the previous 2019 results in 20 of the 22 assessments they have received.

School Board members also reviewed compensation and employee salaries with the board unanimously approving a compensation plan to make jobs more attractive to current and prospective employees. This included raising the hourly wage of bus drivers to $15 per hour from $12.50 per hour, raising food service from around $8.60 to $9.50 per hour and increasing stipends for coaching, prom and yearbooks. The plan also included approval of paying $1500 above the state base pay.

Board member James Moore asked how much the increases would affect the budget. Summers assured that it would not be much.

Board members also unanimously approved a three percent raise for at-will employees, pertaining to employees who are not teachers or administration.

The final staff consideration was a three percent raise to administrator salaries. Moore asked how many administrators in the district had yet to get fully accredited and how long they had to do so.

Summers responded there were four and that they had five years from the hire date.

Moore asked about the process for ensuring the staff attain their degree within the time frame and if there was a place within the superintendent evaluation to review the efficiency in making sure this was done.

Staff said they would send Moore the annual evaluation form to check that it reflected the task.

Summers said she felt the district was responsible for hiring the most qualified candidates for the position even if they have to finish certification while starting the position.

The raise was passed with Moore voting against.

The board also unanimously approved submitting an application for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief, with Dublin eligible for more than $2 million in funds to help with matters like loss of learning and cleaning supplies.

The board also approved the depository contract for 2021-2023 with First National Bank after receiving bids from the three banks in town. Pat Leatherwood, the Vice President of the bank, abstained from the vote.
