Dublin ISD’s official school year is almost over and along with a slew of awards at the Monday, May 12 school board meeting, the board announced high community service hours for students.

According to information presented by Superintendent Melissa Summers, seniors donated 2,005 hours for the 2024-25 school year. They have donated 3,833 hours for all four years of high school.

Thirty nine seniors have received community service stoles to wear at graduation for completing at least 40 hours of community service.

For the 2024-25 school year, ninth graders donated 44.75 hours worth of time, Sophomores donated 320 hours, Juniors donated 1,065 and seniors donated 2,005 hours for a combined total of 3,434 hours.

“We are so incredibly proud of the service our students complete for our community,” Summers said.

The superintendent also announced that 73 students were enrolled for college credit this year and earned at total of 434 dual credit hours.

Summers and Business Manager Kassi Eads addressed the budget including the uncertainty of the ongoing legislative session, which may include State money for teacher raises, or it may not.

Senate Bill 2 is currently in a holding pattern.

“I’m not certain this is going to pass,” Summers said.

Summers announced some new hires, but familiar faces to the district for the 2025-’26 school year.

Ingrid Pantoya, a Dublin graduate and a recent Tarleton grad with her Spanish degree, will be teaching Spanish 3 and 4 at the Secondary campus while working on her alternate certification for teaching.

Jasmine Salinas will be teaching elementary music while her husband Coach Salinas will be teaching math and coaching in Girls athletics.

Sasha Sharp has been hired as the counselor for junior high school and Curtis Williams will be teaching 7th grade science.

Hannah Smith, who is a familiar face from Lingleville, will be the head girls volleyball coach and teach P.E. at the elementary and intermediate school.

After no contested races, school board members Anjelica Salyer and Pat Leatherwood were sworn back into office for another two year term.

The board was reorganized with Bob Cervetto being elected as president, Salyer being elected as vice president and Blanca Martineau being elected as secretary by the board.

The board voted (with Leatherwood abstaining) to extend the bank’s depository contract at First National Bank for 2025-’27.

Both the June and July school board meetings will be held at noon, with the June meeting including the board’s mandated Team of Eight training.
