DISD opts to shorten school day

Dubin ISD students and staff can look forward to earlier dismissal next year following the approval of the 2022-23 school calendar during the March 22 school board meeting.

Elementary and Intermediate days will run from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the next school year while classes at the Secondary campus will be in session from 7:45 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

The first day of school will be Aug. 10, 2022 with graduation set for May 26, 2023.

Dublin ISD Superintendent Melissa Summers reported the decision was made on the behalf on the many students involved in a large amount of extracurricular activities.

Following an executive session, the school board also voted to hire Tatum Sharp as a sixth-grade science/social studies teacher.

School Board members also voted to opt the district out of TRS insurance in favor of Employee Benefits Service Group Region 14.

Board members also voted to renew the Dublin ISD District of Innovation Plan with James Moore opposed.

The next Dublin ISD School Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 19, rescheduled from its regularly scheduled day of April 18 due to its coinciding with the Easter holiday.
