CWJC grads earn scholarships

The Transformation Pathway Christian Women’s Job Corps has made a difference in both Brianna Watts and Catalina Cormack’s lives and both women recently received a scholarship from the National Woman’s Missionary Union to further their education.

The $2,000 scholarship was presented to them after a strenuous process including teacher and volunteer recommendations, project completions and written essays.

Watts, who is currently employed by Durham’s Pecans after receiving computer training through Dublin’s CWJC and plans to use the funds to further her education in business administration.

“It definitely made me feel special,” she said about receiving the scholarship. “The Lord kept telling me to go to school and I kept asking for a clear sign.”

After CWJC Director Juanita Brawley informed her that she received the scholarship, Watts knew she had her answer.

“If that’s not a clear answer, I don’t know what is,” she said.

For Cormack, expense has been a huge obstacle for continuing her education. After completing her high school diploma while her son attended pre-k, Cormack knew she eventually would need to go back to school

“I’ve put it off for so long,” she said.

Her son, who is a U.S. Marine has expressed that he is extremely proud of his mom for continuing her education. She plans to attended classes to become a pharmacist.
