The City of Dublin is giving citizens a chance to participate in a City-Wide Garage sale this weekend May 27-29, right before the city hosts the return of the popular Dublin Clean citywide clean up on June 4.
Anyone having a garage sale on these day is not subject to the usual garage sale permit fee.
Although the official map with residents participating has already been made, residents can still call City Hall to have a garage sale without the permit fee.
The Dublin Clean Up will follow on June 4 from 8 a.m. offering residents the opportunity to get rid of garage sale leftovers and other unneeded items.
The event has changed locations this year from the public works yard to the 100 block of N. Park Street. Residents are asked to enter from Liveoak Street, west of Park.
Items being accepted include televisions and CRT monitors and TVs (screens must be broken out), VCRs, DVD players, video game systems, cameras, sound systems, microwaves and appliances, as well as waste resulting from domestic operations such as household refuse, yard refuse, automotive parts, broken machinery and furniture.
Items that can’t be taken include chemicals, paint, bulbs, alkaline batteries, gasoline, oils, brush, freon items, tires, and tire rims.
Residents who are disabled or a senior citizen and need help can call (254) 445-3331 by May 30 to be put on the list. Items should be left on the curb on the morning of June 4 for pick up. Only scheduled items will be removed.
Anyone bringing items into the yard is asked to line up on Harris Street facing N. Norton (FM 847).
Volunteers are needed to help make this a successful event. This includes trucks and trailers with drivers 18 years or older, people to work at the collection site and people to help pick up items from homes on the pick up list.
Volunteers can sign up by calling 445-3331 or 254-967- 1327.
For their assistance, all volunteers will be provided with a free brisket lunch at the city park following the event.
