City aids church in demo

Body

The City of Dublin assisted in the demolition of a property in disrepair Tuesday, Oct. 29 as they knocked down the old parsonage by the United Pentecostal Church in the 600 block of East Elm.

Code Enforcement Officer Keith Riley had contacted the owners about the building’s non-compliance and in the discussion worked out a deal for the city to handle the demolition so the property could be in compliance and listed for sale. The church didn’t have enough funds to hire an outside company for the work but is able to handle the cost of hauling the debris. The city volunteered man hours and equipment in exchange for a new property that could be sold and potentially increase tax revenue. The city is continuing with handling substandard structures with the next likely being a property on Highland Avenue where the second violation notice was recently posted.
